Bending 4 sheets of glued veneer in this mould was painstaking and it split in the process.

Woven fire retardant hair lamp shade. Suspended from the ceiling.

EST Dry Run

The dry run shows the mould isn’t the right thickness in some spots (miscalculations and mm lost by sanding) this means the ply and glue wont bond properly and bubbles will appear. I’ll need to go back and pack these out to ensure the veneers stick together properly.

I’m greatful that after 9 weeks of building this mould the dry run has proven the end product might actually work.

Desktop Bed Buddy final prototype

Laptop Bed Buddy (Prototype 1)

5 sheets of 1.5mm bendable plywood. Each piece is glued twice then clamped to the mould. It’s then left in the vacuum bag overnight. About 12 hours of drying time to ensure the shape is held when the vacuum is stopped.
